Who: Elliott and OPEN to ALL Different!
What: Beach Partyyy!
When: May 31st, all night
Where: Rockaway Beach
Rating/Warnings: Will update if needed
It's a good spot.
Two diagonal picnic tables are parked a within roasting fork distance of the fire pit. It starts as a small, flickering fire, but once everyone's gathered, Elliott takes the opportunity to kick the night off and turn up the heat with the aid of a few magical fireballs.
There's hotdogs and an overlaying grill to cook up Yotsuyu's mix of meat and veggie kebabs. A cooler filled with soda and water bottles sits further away to avoid premature melting. Cookies and marshmallows or s'mores feature as dessert- or dinner, if that's anyone's preference.
For entertainment, Roselia makes a live, musical debut with Lisa as its sole performer. Meanwhile, Elliott does his best to encourage socialization and facilitate any necessary introductions. There's even a volleyball net and ball, and at least one attempt is made to form teams and get a game going.
But for the quieter sorts, dark, ocean waves lap at the shore outside the firelight. The weather is perfectly clear, and the location affords a rare opportunity to enjoy the stars. There might even be a cat playing in the sand somewhere nearby.
Some accouterments (like cutlery or extra chairs) might have been accidentally overlooked.
...He tried okay.

...He tried okay.

"Yes," he says. "I'm really glad it's worked out so well. Thank you for coming, too. I really appreciate it."

"Most of these people I only met the one time at the support group." And even then he had still been a little rattled about the whole thing. Now he simply sees this as a new group of friends. Even the ones he hasn't met officially.

"Maybe we should have more gatherings like this. Not all the time, but every once in awhile. I think we should all be friends, as much as we can be."
no subject
He could get down with that. The meetings are good for seeing some of the newer people who have been roped into this mess, but aren't terribly relaxing.

"And somewhere we can talk about things without worry," he decides. "But I don't know many places like that."
no subject
He even wonders if his club is safe though it would be a lot harder for them to monitor. It's a noisy place so typically hearing anything through phones is impossible.
no subject
"Well, maybe just a regular park next time? That way Anakin can come, and Alec can think of a new reason not to. Plus, it's a public space. Maybe someone has a grill or something."

Wei Wuxian would probably have a hard time. Most of his ideas of fun wouldn't include the younger people..but he could probably come up with an idea if needed.

Not to mention, he couldn't be sure how much longer he'd be welcome to attend- much less host- further gatherings once his new position became common knowledge. He hoped it wouldn't be as bad as all that, but given those he'd spoken with so far tonight, it was the lack of the Bureau's presence that everyone seemed to appreciate most. Whether or not he'd be counted among them by proxy, he wasn't sure.
"I wonder how many volunteer hosts we'd have if we asked."

Wei Wuxian looks around at the others at the party, envisioning what each one might consider fun based on the activities they are engaging in at this one.
no subject
"Yeah. Maybe I should post something, encouraging someone else to take up the torch for next month.."
no subject
His whole life and job are a party, but he isn't motivated enough to feel inclined to run one.
no subject
He had a job to go starting Monday after all, so he should have money enough to do it again if he needed to. The idea of using the Bureau's money to pay for an event used somewhat in part to avoid them seemed like a perfect use of it, really.

"A toast," he agrees, and taps the aluminum to Wei Wuxian's water. "To future parties and a supportive community."

"After I finish this, I'm testing out the water out there." He points towards the shoreline. He is ready to swim.
no subject
"I bet that's going to be really cold, but if you've got the guts, then go for it."
