Who: Jack Harkness and YOU
What: Trying to live a normal life when things are so not normal.
When: April 5 and 6
Where: Around Town
Rating/Warnings: Probably low
At the Stage Door:
Normally Jack would happily hang around with his cast mates after a show or rehearsal, grab a drink or a meal or chat with fans. But ever since his Event he's been distracted and longing for something he couldn't put a name to. So today after rehearsal he tried to slip out the stage door as quietly as he could. He needed time for a walk so he could think and try to make sense of his life as it stood.
Meal:
Jack liked to cook, but sometimes he went out to eat just so he could people watch and find inspiration for his most current role. He was currently sitting in one of his favorite cafe's and sipping a cup of coffee as he watches people passing by and living their lives. He also found the process soothing and he liked to imagine what was really going on in their lives.

Meal - 5th
"Table for two."
The red haired man spoke to the server and that might have been the end of the encounter only they were placed at a table very near the actor's and in passing the server slipped on the water dripping off Crowley's coat and ended up tumbling practically into Jack's lap.
"Whoa, careful!"
Anthony reached for the server's arm but slipped on the damp tiles himself and very nearly ended up crashing to the floor, only a few fancy dance-like moves saved him from a fall.
"These tiles are like ice when wet!"
Re: Meal - 5th
With reflexes born of years of dancing 7 nights a week and jogging on his off days, Jack catches the waitress easily with one hand and sets her back on her feet. He then grins at the man who almost fell on him. "No need to rush to the rescue friend, I've got this." He smiled brightly at the waitress who blushed and muttered "Thank you Mr. Porter." He waves off the praise quietly. "This man did more of the work then I did," he says, "in fact put whatever he and his date want on my bill...my treat."

Anthony's protest was cut off as Grace came over to collect his arm and lean just a little bit closer to the gentleman sitting at the the table with the blushing waitress sitting on his lap.
"Mr. Porter? I'm sorry but you look so familiar."

Jack smiles. "You must have seen one of the shows I've been in then," he replies, "perhaps my turn in Hamilton as King George or maybe one of my off Broadway plays." Jack's work is varied because he isn't picky. As long as the part he's being offered is interesting he'll sign on. It doesn't really matter to him how long he works for just that he enjoys the work as he doesn't spend lavishly and saves so he's comfortable enough that he doesn't have to worry about money.

Grace being the far more animated one was beaming from ear to ear while Anthony stood quietly by her side until he was addressed.
"Yeah, date nights. We did see Hamilton."
no subject
Jack smiles. "How about this...my newest show is starting previews this week. Instead of paying for your meal I'll leave some tickets at will call for you and there is your next date night all planned. I'd love to know what you both think of it."
no subject
Anthony agreed though some one less enthusiastically. He was grateful but Grace had all of the hyper today it seemed. "Yeah, too kind. What's the play?"
Grace playfully smacked Anthony, thinking it rude to ask that, "Not that I'm not curious but we really should let you get back to your meal, unless... we aren't bothering you?"
no subject
Jack smiles again and shakes his head. "No you aren't bothering me at all," he replies, "it's nice to talk to people and learn more about them. I've always enjoyed meeting strangers when I traveled and I still do fans or no."
no subject
Not to let things get too out of hand Anthony pulled up again, "Ages ago, when I was back in school. It was a long time ago."
no subject
Jack smiles. "It's a musical," he says, "the next HadesTown only this time it's based on the story of the Odyssey," he explains, "I'm not sure if you know the story."
no subject
She favored her date with the most charmed smile, "Clever! I had forgotten all about that one. Which role do you play?"
no subject
Jack nods. "Yes that's the one," he replies impressed. "I'm playing dual roles, Hermes the messenger god who sets the story in motion and acts as the foil to Zeus and Athena a small role but full of comedy when he is on stage and Eumaeus - The loyal shepherd who, along with the cowherd Philoetius, helps Odysseus reclaim his throne after his return to Ithaca. Even though he does not know that the vagabond who appears at his hut is Odysseus, Eumaeus gives the man food and shelter and is well rewarded for his loyalty."

Anthony raised an eyebrow while Grace spoke and tilted his head. Something was puzzling him and it wasn't based on the theater, he was eyeing the waitress still sitting on the other fellow's lap.
"You gonna to sit there all night?"
no subject
The waitress jumps up completely red. "I'm....sorry Mr.Porter sir," she says stammering, "I'll....uh....I'll get back to work." She hurries away and Jack smiles. "Poor girl it's hard working customer service." He stands up and holds his hand out. "I've been rude, Jack Porter."

"Crowley, Anthony J. Crowley." He reached out to shake the offered hand before then gesturing towards his date, "And this is Grace Miller."
"It really is so very lovely to meet you!" She added while offering her trademarked warm smile.
"You have a way with the ladies," Anthony chimed in, deciding it had to be that strong jaw. Jack wasn't the least bit difficult to look at was he?
no subject
"Pleasure Mr. Crowley and Miss Miller," Jack replied taking the woman's hand and shaking it gently he isn't one of those actors who pours on the charm too hard. He finds that sort of thing silly. "It's the fame," he admits with a smile, "such as it is. I'm no Lin Manuel after all. Just a young man who picked a good show or two to be in."
no subject
"Celebrity gazing," Anthony agreed you certainly gave that waitress a lot to tell her friends about later. "We should really let you get back to your meal. We don't usually go around... tossing waitresses at people."
Stage Door - 6th
Giving up on the phone, Anakin decided to ask a local.
He caught up to Jack and fell in step next to him.
"Hey, I was just looking for a place to eat. Know what's good around here?"
Re: Stage Door - 6th
Jack smiles recognizing the young man from the support group last month. "What are you the mood for," he asks as he starts walking careful to shorten his long strides. "I know this great pizza place about a block down. Owner made sure I got enough to eat during my busker days and I always make it a habit to stop by once a week or so to help him out. But I know other places if you want something else instead." Jack is well known enough he could go somewhere more expensive but he likes small local businesses. He learned from his days on the street that's where the good people are.

Re: Stage Door - 6th
Jack grins and does just that leading Anakin to a small store front and then inside. He chooses a table towards the back after greeting the owner warmly. "Share or slice," he asks his companion.
Re: Stage Door - 6th
"We can split a pizza if you want. But I'm going to get rootbeer and unless you want split a pitcher of that, I'm fine with my out glass. What kind of pizza do you want?"
Re: Stage Door - 6th
"Would you mind half meat lovers," Jack asks, "the other half can be anything you like, but I have a preview of my new show tonight and need calories. It's a dance heavy show and I won't be having dinner until much later."
Re: Stage Door - 6th
He looked around at the small restaurant. "Do you want a booth or a table?"
Re: Stage Door - 6th
"Booth is fine," Jack says warmly, "it would be nice to rest my back against something."
Re: Stage Door - 6th
"So what's your play about?
Re: Stage Door - 6th
"A musical version of the Odyssey do you know the story," Jack asked in reply.
Re: Stage Door - 6th
"I vaguely remember its about a guy on an odyssey. Refresh my memory."
Re: Stage Door - 6th
Jack was more than happy to do so. "It's the story of a man who spent ten years after a war trying to get home to his wife and son, but the gods are both cheering him on and against him," he says, "it's full of adventure, love and excitement."
