There’s a generic spread of food on a table off to one side of the room: donuts, muffins, bagels, and cookies; coffee, lemonade, water, and because one of the Different asked for it, hot chocolate. Maybe you’re hungry enough to try it—it’s free after all.

Or maybe you can’t stomach anything, given the event you’re attending.

The space is a local rec center. The beige-painted cinder block walls and the fluorescent lighting are a terrible combination. Maybe they are reminiscent of the public school you attended in your youth?

Why are you here? Curiosity? Maybe the Bureau official will say something that will help you make sense of things? The meeting was interesting—who knew there were so many people like you, receiving memories of a past life? The group was led by someone from The Bureau—the Department of Medical Services. Some people are staying in their chairs and chatting—they must know each other from previous meetings. Some of them are gravitating towards the food.

How do you feel about tonight? Has it helped you come to terms with the dream of memories you’re having? Maybe it’s time to talk to others, get an understanding of their experience.

He nodded, feeling a bit worse after having it just stated so bluntly but he wasn't trying to be weird about it.

"So, like, we all saw the lights. And no one here is the same, from what I can tell. It's one of those shared experiences and I kinda wanted to emphasize that we, uh, you know, as people, despite being different tend to experience similar things." He shakes his head, scowling down at his paper. "No, that's not..."

He sighs. "It's not easy to put it into words. I've never been good with words, but I can draw and I can paint and I can sculpt and I just... kinda wanted to express something I can't really say."

He looked back up at Anakin, still a bit flushed but trying his best get his point across. "Like, if you don't want me to do it, just say no. That's okay. But it would mean a lot to me if you were cool with it."

"Do you want to draw it because you think it's cool or do you want to represent a person with a disability?" Anakin asked, his tone wasn't harsh, he was conversational. "Because a disembodied prosthetic doesn't represent a person."

"Kind of both?" Not gonna lie, it did look cool, but he understood it wasn't necessarily cool for the person who had to live with one.

Clarence sits back, tilting his head back as he thinks. He takes a moment to get back into that moment, laying on his back on the damp cement rooftop of that building behind the church. That same place he met Elliott, and where he felt utterly memorized by the lights above. And how utterly useless he felt without a sketch book right there.

"... no, I get what you mean." He sighs. "It was just an idea."
