The streets of Krajina Božstiev are dusty and crowded. So many people on their way to live their lives. Markets, taverns, the Temple, the Palace. What do you look at first? What do you buy? Where to do you find yourself exploring?

Take a moment to appreciate the shine of the Temple. The beauty of the Palace gardens. The quiet serenity of the Library. The simplistic, but filling food in the taverns. Or the peaceful quaintness of the hills. A new world has opened up and somehow it all just seems simpler over here. People seem happy (mostly) in this existence.

Maybe...

Watch out for the occasional person going into a rage on the other side of the street or tavern. That can't mean anything...

Temple

"It's all so...gaudy, isn't it?" The unfamiliar voice speaks from not far--if she had been escorted out of the temple before, it isn't as if Yotsuyu wouldn't worm her way back in, by hook or by crook. She'd just try to avoid the so self-important High Priest.

"Almost as if you're supposed to look elsewhere. Be distracted by all this flash and splendor, don't you think?" It actually reminded her of Utah, and not in a good way. Which might explain the twist of her lip. She never had been fond of being reminded of her youth.

"If it's supposed to engender a feeling of reverence for this 'Unknowable God', I feel as if it falls short." She doesn't say that loudly, however--the last thing she wants is for some snarky comment like that to get back to stuffy old Neved.

Emberto gave the woman a wry smile. "'Gaudy' is certainly one word that comes to mind, yes," he said. "Among other, less polite ways of describing it. I suppose that over decoration like this could be normal for this sort of temple, but I somehow doubt it. It all just looks so... haphazard; as if they were gilding everything they possibly could without rhyme or reason." Certainly not the way to bring honor and respect to any deity, 'Unknowable' or otherwise.

"I'm inclined to agree with you, darling; all this gold is meant to be a distraction. Or perhaps to cover something up. Though why exactly they're trying to razzle-dazzle visitors into a stupor, I can't be sure." He had a few vague ideas; there were more than a few historical parallels that could be drawn, even in this other world. But not quite enough to provide more than suspicions.
