Was it Buddhists? Aziraphale seemed to think it was Hinduism that believed in reincarnation, but he wasn't sure. Or perhaps both. Fascinating idea, regardless, though not one he had ever personally prescribed to. He somewhat believed that a person did their time and then that was that. The concept of souls and judgement and re-dos or afterlife and whatever was all a rather messy business.

Which is why when asked, he shook his head. No, Aziraphale did not consider himself a religious man, though he had been raised Anglican. On the whole, the religious kind seemed to be less than fond of Aziraphale's kind.

He listened intently to what Anthony told him. When those eyes were finally turned onto him, he hesitated, a helpless sort of I'm not sure hovering in the air between them. Surely Satan didn't even actually exist, let alone embody Anthony Crowley. Just because Aziraphale had memories of occult magic and snakes and Anthony suggesting he kill a child...didn't actually mean anything.

"Well, I mean..." Red hair. Wasn't the devil usually associated with red? And he was quite tempting. At least to Aziraphale. And wouldn't it just be the kind of trick the devil was said to play if he tried to convince someone he wasn't the devil? "Surely the cross would burn you if you were, right?"
