He chuckles lightly at Mr. Fell's embarrassment. York hadn't thought anything of the phrasing.
"Oh, yeah, in high school," he replies to the question. "Not in this medium, though. Those were acrylics, I think? And I think these are oils, yeah?"
He shrugs and dabs a little more of the orange in the mass of leaves.
"I think the important thing is not to overdo it. If I kept on putting more and more color in the tree it would turn to mud for sure."
