He's taken aback by that. He doesn't know many adults beyond his current guardians or teachers. He looks up at her, wondering if maybe she's talking about knowing Phil or Kris from work. But then she name-drops one of his newer friends and his eyes go wide. "How do you know Elliott?"

Well wasn't she just a good Samaritan? Not that Clarence could complain. Her points were valid, even if she couldn't know if he really would be a good pet parent. Still, the offer was there and it was soooo tempting.

He bit his bottom lip, glancing back down to the resting cat in question. "... I doubt they'll let me but I guess I could ask. Phil will want to talk to Kris about it, so it may be another day or so even if they do say yes."
